Frequently Asked Questions Does the $25 tournament entry fee include the Jackpot Derby? No, you will also need the $5 Jackpot Derby ticket to be entered in the Jackpot Derby. Can I buy a ticket online or through the mail? You can purchase a ticket through the mail. Please see the link at the bottom of this page to print out a form to mail to the Chamber office. Once your payment is received we will process your OFFICIAL TICKET and mail it back to you. Your are not entered into the tournament until we receive your money and signed entry form. Can I buy a Derby ticket if I do not fish in the tournament on April 19? Absolutely! Anyone can buy a ticket up to the last day of the Derby on May 18th. Who will tag the fish? Fisheries biologists with the Alabama Department of Conservation and a local Conservation Officer will handle the tagging and release of the fish. What does the tag look like? It is a small tag about 2 inches in length and the diameter of a pencil lead, inserted just below the dorsal fish of the fish, easily detectable once the fish is caught. The tag has the event name, contact phone number and a tag number. Where will the fish be released? The fish will be tagged and released in equal distribution from the Miller's Ferry Lock and Dam to the Wilcox-Dallas County line, including backwaters of the lake accessible from the main river channel by boat. What do I do if I catch a tagged fish? Bring the fish immediately to a ticket outlet so that it can be identified and the value of the prize revealed. THE FISH MUST BE PRESENTED ALIVE! Immediately call the Chamber office at 334-682-4929 to locate a tournament official or call tournament director William Malone at 334-525-0462, 24-hours a day. The fish will be confirmed by a tournament official and a game warden. How long is the $5 Derby Ticket valid? The ticket is valid for the full 30 day event, from April 19 to May 18th. One $5 is all you need for the entire 30 days. Will the Tournament have radio coverage during the day on April 19th? YES! Tune in to WIN 98.5 for the remote broadcast from the Miller's Ferry Marina with updates on the tournament throughout the day. Also, tune in at 7am as the Chattin' Outdoors Radio Show will be broadcast live from the Miller's Ferry Marina. Can a youth fish the tournament? Absolutely yes! There is no age limit and we encourage participation by the entire family. If I weigh a fish at an hourly weigh-in, can I have it back to weigh in at the final for the overall prize money? Once you weigh a fish at an hourly weigh-in it is automatically entered in the overall standings. There is no need to weigh it twice. Is there a "blast-off" for the tournament? No, you can launch from the landing of your choice. Anglers can start actual fishing anytime after 6am. You must fish in Lake Dannelly, between the Miller's Ferry Dam and the Jones Bluff Dam.
