One hundred and
seventy five crappie will be tagged and
released between the Miller's Ferry Dam and the Wilcox-Dallas County
line.
-
One fish is worth $25,000; one
is worth $10,000; and three are worth $5,000 each. There will be
175+ fish worth $100 each.
-
The Derby will last for 30 days.
-
Fish must be caught on a hook
and line. No hoop nets or gill nets are allowed. Polygraph
test must be passed in order to claim prize money.
-
Participants must purchase a $5
ticket before catching a tagged fish in order to collect prize money.

- Individual
competition, practice anytime.
- More
than 2 anglers may fish from same boat (must keep fish separate).
Anglers do not have to fish from boat.
Live bait may be used.
- Anglers
may weigh one crappie per hour for each hourly weigh-in, starting at 9:00 AM
and ending at 3:00 PM. The
heaviest crappie per hour will determine the hourly winners.
The three heaviest crappie will determine the overall
winners. Hourly payoffs
will be made at the final weigh-in. There
will be no hourly winners for the 3pm weigh-in.
- Anglers
may place only once in overall Top 3 competition.
- Fish
weighed in dead will lose .07 pound (1 ounce).
Try to bring fish in alive.
- All
fish weighed-in will become the property of the Tournament Officials.
All live fish will be released.
- No
more than 7 crappie per angler may be weighed during the contest (1 per
hour).
- Anglers
must follow and comply with all Federal, State, County, and City laws.
- Anglers
may start fishing on any publicly accessible waters of the Lake Dannelly
Reservoir at 6:00AM and continue to fish until 3:00PM.
Anglers fishing outside of these times will be disqualified.
- Crappie
must be caught on pole or rod and hooked in the mouth.
No snagging and no yo-yos.
- All
anglers must be in line and checked in at the weigh-in site (Miller’s
Ferry Marina) by 3:00 PM.
- All
crappie brought to the scales must have been caught during the contest hours
by the angler bringing the fish to the weigh-in site.
- Winners
must agree to take and pass a polygraph or voice stress test.
Polygraph tests will be final in determining the winners.
- No
alcohol or illegal drugs will be permitted during contest hours.
Anglers may be disqualified if in the opinion of tournament officials
the angler is intoxicated.
- Entry
fee is $25 per angler. Contact

- Late
entries will be accepted at the main weigh-in site (Marina) from 6:00AM to
8:00AM the day of the contest. Late
entries will pay a $10 late fee.

- The
Jackpot Crappie Derby will begin at 5:00 AM CST, April 19, 2008 and end at
11:59PM CST on May 18, 2008.
These are hereby referred to as the “Official Derby Hours.”
To claim a prize for the catch of a tagged fish, the fish must be
caught during Official Derby Hours and presented to Derby officials prior to
11:59 PM CST on May 18, 2008.
- Participant
must purchase a $5 entry ticket prior to catching a tagged fish.
- Tagged
fish must be caught on a hook and line.
Hoop nets, gill nets, seines, or fish baskets are prohibited means to
catch a tagged fish.
Fish must be presented alive in order to be eligible.
- Participants
must comply with all Federal, State, County, and City Laws, Rules and
Regulations.
- Officially
tagged fish are labeled with readily identifiable tags including the event
name, tag number, and phone number to report the catch.
- To
claim a prize, an angler must first purchase a $5 entry ticket, catch a
tagged fish using hook and line and without the aid of a net larger than a
dip net, present the tagged fish alive to tournament officials within
Official Derby Hours, and pass a polygraph or voice stress test assuring
that all Derby rules stated on this form have been adhered to.
Anglers failing to pass a polygraph or voice stress test will be
barred from collecting prize money.
- The
fish tagging will be conducted by officials of the Alabama Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources.
Tagged fish will be placed between the Miller’s Ferry Dam and the
Wilcox – Dallas County line.
Prize money will be paid to the successful angler within 30 days of passing
the polygraph or voice stress test.

- Employees
(and their family members) of the Wilcox Area Chamber and individuals (and
their family members) releasing the fish are ineligible.
